Where’s the Value in AI?
Only 4% of companies create substantial value from AI and 22% scale it; leaders concentrate on core business processes and a few priority bets, and put people and process change ahead of technology.
Summary
BCG sorts companies into four groups: not doing much (25%), proof of concept (49%), scaling value (22%) and operating value engines (4%). Leaders, over half of them incumbents, expect 45% more cost reduction and 60% more revenue growth than others and generate 62% of their AI value in core business processes. They set bold targets, back a few high-priority opportunities and favor people and process over algorithms. BCG offers a seven-step playbook starting with a bold commitment from the top.
Editor's opinion
